Boat Classes
The following Classes will be offered for racing in Fowey Classics

Class 1 Gaff Rigged Yachts 30ft LOA and over
Class 2 Gaff Rigged Yachts over 20ft LOA and up to 29ft 11” LOA
Class 3 Bermudan Rigged Yachts 35ft LOA and over
Class 4 Bermudan Rigged Yachts over 20ft and up to 34ft 11” LOA
Class 5 Sailing Craft, Gaff or Bermudan rigged, over 17’6” LOA up to 20’ LOA
Class 6 Dinghies (ie open centreboard/plate boats) up to 17’5” LOA

Gaff rig includes gunter, lugsail, spritsail and any other boat with a four sided mainsail.

Multi-masted boats shall sail in the class appropriate to the type of their mainsail.

Lateen rigged craft are classed as gaffers. The length definition Length Overall (LOA) is the measurement from the stemhead of a boat to the aftermost part of the hull. This measurement excludes bowsprit and/or bumkin. The Old Gaffers Association (OGA) handicap system is used by Fowey Classics.
