Insurance requirements
Insurance cover has been a mandatory condition of entry for Fowey Classics since 2006. Our Welcome Desk team needs to see a valid policy document or certificate of marine insurance for your boat BEFORE handing over your Entry Pack.

Every entrant, including the boats of Friends, must have Third Party Liability cover of at least £2 million. All sailing craft which intend to race must have cover for Racing Risks. You will be asked by the Welcome Desk team to identify the key cover clauses of your insurance. Prize winners may be required to re-present their insurance papers for scrutiny.

The marine insurance industry current MINIMUM standard Third Party Liability cover is £2 million. Many insurers are now offering and recommending their clients opt for the higher figure of £3m in the light of increased claim levels. However if your insurer still provides £2 million Third Party Liability cover this is acceptable. Entry Packs will ONLY be given out when insurance documentation is produced. No excuses, no exceptions... and no whingeing please. This is in every entrants’ best interest.

In previous years several skippers found themselves wasting good sailing or socialising time (or missing briefings) while they scrabbled around trying to get copies of their insurance faxed or emailed to Fowey. It is much easier to bring the documentation with you.
